what type of paint do you guys use to color your carvings...acrylic or oil?

When I painted some of mine, I used acrylic I believe. It was what my daughter had for her crafts. I never tried oil based paint.

I have not tried oil paints. Little bottles of acrylic are dirt cheap, available everywhere from Hobby Lobby to Walmart, cleanup is super easy, and they can be thinned and mixed to your heart’s content using only water. I like BLO, followed by the paint the next day, Krylon matte spray the day after that. I save sauce and salsa jars for BLO rag disposal. FWIW.
