Hello my Bushcraft friends!

I have some handforged flint and steel strikers and awls for your consideration. These are all forged by me in my smithy reusing old steel from American files. Here’s what I'm offering :

Awls number 1-5 These are some small awls for piercing holes in leather, scratch marking wood and other softer materials, and other various types of poking around activities. They could work nicely in a small edc tool kit, sewing kit or repair kit. They have very sharp points. The small ones are just under 3 inches and the larger one is closer to 6 inches long. These are made from high carbon steel, but are not hardened, they are not for metal work and can bend but not break if they get really hard use of a lot of levering. These are $25 each plus $8 for shipping

Here’s some very old school firestarting kit. Fossil flint & Steel!

I have always been interested in Geology, especially fossils. The other day I was out kicking through some rock outcrops and turned up some amazing trilobites. The fossil record tells us that These guys were around for about 300 million years but died out at the end of the Permian period. They have always been a favorite of mine. These trilobites make darn good strikers and are quite sparky. They are hefty for the size and the rounded shape makes them sit well in the hand and they are good companions in the field. These have a hole for a lanyard which I recommend. Any resemblance to upcycled modern day files is purely coincidental ;).

These are $40 USD each plus $7 for shipping. There could be more of these in the future. Keep your eyes peeled.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Please claim by number in the thread below, and I will respond in PM. Paypal ( G&S) or VENMO preferred . I can ship two strikers for $12 and multiple awls for $8.

NOTE to Washington state residents:
I will need to charge state sales tax to purchases made within WA (sorry). I will look it up based on the zip code and add it to the price

I am shipping these striker steels with a piece of flint AND some charcloth to get you started with some instant gratification,

Note: I am limiting my trips to the PO, so these may ship in a couple days (but definitely within the week) when I bundle that with some other trips away for the hermitage.

If you do adopt a striker, please be careful and give it a try outside with the char cloth. I don't want to be part of burning down anybody's domicile. Also, the steel in these has been hardened and that can make them brittle, and it is very possible they can break if they get dropped on a hard surface or tossed at a rock, do please treat them with care. They will hold up to normal striking just fine. I recommend using a lanyard with them.

I've had very good feedback on my strikers, but if you have any issues, please let me know and I will make it right.

Thanks for looking and for all the wonderful support from the BCUSA community.

Wow so awesome!! Love the trilobites. Keep making them, eventually I’ll get a chance to buy one.
Someday these TradeBlanket Hunters will stop grabbing the new stuff so fast.

Thanks very much.

I will keep at it and make some more of these available in the future.

New @Red Yeti striker model I don't have and I am too late to the party. No worries, I am sure those who snagged them up will love them and they will get great use. This goes without saying, but for those uninitiated, @Red Yeti makes the sparkiest strikers I have ever used. Keep up the good work my friend. I will always be on the lookout for new creations from you.
