I was prepared to use epoxy, but it seems to be holding tight with a pressure fit. I kept gradually increasing the width of the slot until the file almost reached the bottom and then tapped it in with a hammer.

Here’s a little snake from @Red Yeti. I had a bit of a blair witch moment when I tried to video this for some good stills. Didn’t catch my hands or the steel and chert. Worked well with the humidity of 84%.

Built a hobo stove so I figured I’d light a fire. Here is a mustache with bow drill divot from @Red Yeti. I caught a spark on denim char cloth on the first strike. So far this is one of my favorite strikers!

Finally got it done! Saw @Not Sure do this and I got it on my third attempt. Making char cloth, and used a piece from a batch I made this morning. I also used a new piece of flint and that obviously helped.

I used an old dull blade and hold the blade vertically and strike down with my flint on the “cutting edge.” Shewing sparks down into a tin of charred punk wood this time.

Char on flint works just as well…striking down on the flint with the “cutting edge.”

Again, it is well dull, when I use this.
